Editorial Design

I’m an editorial designer based in Kent, specialising in magazines, trade and professional journals, company reports and exhibition catalogues.

I’ve been designing publications for more than 25 years. Examples include Sevenoaks Town Council’s Town Crier and the OKS magazine for The King’s School Canterbury, alongside annual reviews, prospectuses and reports for schools, trade shows and a variety of other businesses.

A major element of this type of work is structure and typography: a grid that copes with real content, typefaces that read well at length, and a layout that can be produced issue after issue without reinventing everything each time. I usually take a project from raw copy and images through to print-ready artwork, and I’m happy working alongside editors, photographers and printers to keep things on schedule.

This is where experience counts for a lot – knowing what will and won’t work on the page before anything is set.
